World's first device that conveys vehicle documents and driving license through light.

What is VDID?

VDID (to be pronounced as “We Did”) – Vehicle and Driver Information Device. It is an electronic device that needs to be installed in the vehicle that conveys vehicle documents such as Registration, Insurance and pollution certificates and present driver’s driving license through light signal to the traffic police officers. It is integrated with a VDID software application. VDID is not only a product it is a revolutionary technology that requires for our smart/safe city ecosystem.

Why we need it?

Traffic police can randomly check vehicle documents of any vehicle on any road in India. When they stop the motorists, they first ask for driving license followed by vehicle documents such as Registration, Insurance and pollution certificates because they want to check whether the motorist has valid documents for his/her vehicle and also, he/she drives the vehicle with valid driving license or not.

Even though implementation of many technologies in the department (handheld machines, sensors, RFID and AI cameras installed on the streets) traffic police officers simultaneously verifies the Registration, Insurance, & Pollution certificates and Driving License for Bikes, Autos, Cars & Lorries for more than 35 years since 1988, the Motor Vehicle Act. This manual process results in time-consuming and stopping of the vehicles when motorists are busy in commuting.

Technology gap?

The major reason for this manual process is technology gap, How?
Without stopping the vehicles, traffic police will not be able to identify and verify the vehicles with & without valid documents through their normal eyesight. They need a handheld machines, sensors or AI cameras to track the vehicles but these gadgets are helpful to verify only the vehicles and NOT the driver’s driving license. To verify the driving license, they have to stop the vehicles. This technology gap results in manual verification. Sametime, without stopping the vehicles, motorists will not be able to show their driving license and vehicle documents to the traffic police when their vehicles are on the move.

This results in stopping the vehicles, time-consuming in manual process and creates inconvenience to commuters.

What is the novelty?

To fix this technology gap and to solve this 35 years old manual verification methodology between the motorists and traffic police, VDID has been introduced. VDID is a world first device that verifies and conveys the vehicle documents and driving license through light signal to the traffic police within 0-3 seconds. Hence, motorists not required to stop their vehicles and show their documents manually to the traffic police. VDID communicates the present driver’s driving license and vehicle documents through light signal to the officers without stopping their vehicle when their vehicle is on the move. Verification and communication will be happened through light signal. Automatic and on the move verification.

Who will use this device?

The device will be used by the motorists/commuters (the users of 2, 3, 4, & 6-wheeler vehicles).

Is it a sensor?

It is not a sensor, spare parts, any process/system/technology of the vehicle. It is an independent electronic device and nowhere related to any spare parts or operating system of your vehicle. For more clarity, it is an electronic device that helps the users/drivers to display the validity of the vehicle documents and driving license through light signal to the traffic police officers without stopping their vehicle when their vehicle is on the move.

How does it help the motorists

  • Automatic driving license verification and communication through light.
  • Automatic Registration, Insurance and pollution certificate verification and communication through light.
  • No need to stop your vehicle for manual verification that saves your valuable time and avoids your inconvenience.
  • Avoids unnecessary arguments with the police officers.
  • Avoids not to stand in crowd and traffic jam.
  • Vital for smart and safe city ecosystem.
